Sani Amigo
A reusable hand sanitizer dispenser with built-in habit-forming reminders to help keep you healthy
In response to the heightened awareness of hygiene during the COVID-19 pandemic, a local entrepreneur approached us to help develop their idea of a hand sanitizer dispenser with built in reminders. The goal was to create something convenient and high quality to encourage people to make hand sanitization a frequent habit.
Research
I started by looking into a compact solution for delivering reminders, which led to the fitness wearables category. This served as a reference for the minimum size and power requirements for the device. On the bottle side, the existing market consisted predominantly of disposable squeeze bottles. In order to elevate the look and feel of the product (and house the electronics), I opted for an injection molded body.
Development
Several factors influenced the form of the product, including the dispensing method, battery and electronics size, and target capacity. Quick mockups were used to validate the scale and functionality. The use of a pump mechanism ultimately became a functional and aesthetic feature of the final form.
Final Design
The final design embodies usability, portability, and functionality. The compact form, lanyard loop, and belt clip provide flexibility to seamlessly become part of your every day carry. The simple one-button interface cycles through intervals to set a discreet reminder from the vibration motor.
Bringing to Market
Sani Amigo was launched and successfully funded on Indiegogo!
